The Belgian Federal Parliament passed a resolution against Israel by an overwhelming majority, taking the initiative across Europe.
The resolution opposes Israel's proposed annexation of the Occupied Palestinian Territories, condemning Israel and calling on the Belgian government to take the initiative to persuade the European Union to take the initiative to block Israel's unilateral decision. If this is not possible at the grassroots level, then Belgium should bring together like-minded countries in Europe.
At the same time, if Israel does not stop implementing the plan, Belgium should prepare a list against it, which proposes measures against the government of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and his officials. This includes imposing various restrictions, including on products.
This will pose a serious threat to the establishment of Palestine as a state as well as the peace process between them and other countries in the region. We strongly condemn this act.
There were 101 votes in favor of the resolution while 39 members abstained.
The second part, presented by the Socialist Party in parliament, called on the government to recognize Palestine as a state in this situation. At the suggestion of Mr Party, it was postponed for two weeks.
The resolution consisted of two parts. The section, presented by the Green and Ecolo group in parliament, states that Israel intends to annex the West Bank to Israel with US support, in clear violation of international law.
